Getting Around by Car

Norfolk Island would have to be one of the cheapest ‘car hire’ destination in the world! Horses and cattle have right of way and the speed limit is 30kph in Kingston, 40kph in Burnt Pine and 50kph everywhere else.

Prices start from AUD25.00 per day PLUS a compulsory insurance payable direct on the Island which is approximately AUD10.00 per vehicle, per day.

Late model cars are available through CREST AUTOS. All vehicles have power steering and air-conditioning as standard equipment.

Some general facts:

• Rental is charged per 24hr periods
• Current driver’s licence is necessary at time of rental
• Drivers must be over 25 years of age unless additional insurance excess is acknowledged by renter
• Petrol is NOT included. You will pick your car up with a full tank of petrol and must return it this way
• A $500.00 insurance excess is payable only in the event of a collision. Credit cards accepted
